Mountain Dapi Scenic Area is close to the urban area of Xun County seat with convenient transportation facilities and other services. After more than ten years of exploitation and construction, it has become an ideal resort. Tourists from France, America, Canada, Netherland, Japan, Korea and many other countries visited there. The Scenic Area annually receives more than two millions of guests from all over the world.

Mountain Dapi Scenic Area consists of Mountain Dapi and Mountain Fuqiu towering on the stretching plains. Despite its altitude of 135 meters above the sea level, Mountain Dapi was recorded in China's earliest historical book because of Da Yu, an ancient hero and emperor once climbed the hill when he fought against the floods. A sightseeing to Mountain Dapi Scenic Area will make you inebriate in the long history and rich culture.

In history, more than ten emperors, ministers and generals visited Mountain Dapi. For hundreds of years, numerous literati, poets like Wang Wei, Fan Chengda, Wang Yangming wrote poets and articles about Mountain Dapi. The arrival of the celebrities and famous scholars improved its position in China and made it a charming resort.

There are 9 Buddhist and Daoist architectural spots in the scenic area with pavilions and temples spreading upon the two hills. Tianning Temple of the Northern Wei Dynasty enjoys a worldwide reputation for its giant stone statue of Buddha which is 22.29 meters high with a history of over 1,600 years. What's more, the Buddha statue is the earliest of its kind and the largest in north China, ranking among the best touring routes in He'nan Province. Some experts and scholars have marveled at its religious cultures, the art of stone sculpture and so on it involves. In June, 2001, it was declared by the State Council as a cultural relic under state-level protection.

Qianfo (literally one thousand Buddha) Cave is a masterpiece of the art of stone sculpture of the Tang Dynasty in Central China. Then, Bixia Palace, the holy place for Daoism was built in the Ming Dynasty. On the walls of the palace, over three thousand immortal figures recorded in ancient Daoist books were molded. So it has become a museum of fairy figures. The well-preserved places of interest and historical relics unfold the spreading and developing course of religious culture. Especially the annually-held Temple Fair in January of Lunar Calendar usually lasts for over one month with as many pilgrims as 20,000 per day.

For over 450 years, the scenic area has been a center of cultural and entertainment activities for the surrounding districts. During the period of the Temple Fair, crowds of businessmen rushed to gather here, and it is a good opportunity to watch and study the folk customs of North He'nan.

The well-preserved folk dwellings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties have witnessed the long history of the ancient city. Here, the Weishui River diverges into two branches, like two jade belts winding forward and drifting away, which adds a lot of brightness and beauty to the scenic area. With ancient bridges over the river, small islands in the river, banks lined with green trees, it is really a great spectacle.

In 1992 the Garden of Chinese Myths and Legends was completed at the south foot of Mountain Dapi, covering an area of 8 hectares. In it over 60 impressive sets of Chinese myths and legends integrating with sound and light such as “Creation of the World”“Nvwa Mends the Sky” are displayed, which have a perfect combination of entertainment and instructiveness.
